Both drivers for Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing put in great performances in the second to last race of the season before the Chase. Smoke pulled off his first win of the season while Ryan Newman impressed with an 8th place finish.

With his first win of the year, Tony Stewart sits in 4th place overall and has the luxury of racing hard at Richmond or relaxing without losing ground.

Newman Almost Out Of It For Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing

Unfortunately, Randy Newman wasn’t able to pull off a long shot and move into the Chase field. Newman can only take 12th place if Biffle finishes last without leading a lap and Newman wins and leads the most laps. After a dust-up with Kasey Kahne in the final laps, Newman dropped to 8th while Boywer took 7th, all but mathematically eliminating #39.

After Richmond, the Chase is on!
