Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing: Smoke Falls Just Short

Gene Haas Tony Stewart

Coming in to the Helluva Good! At Watkins Glen, Tony Stewart of Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing has finished first or second in his last six races in upstate New York. This year, however, Smoke grabbed a solid 7th place finish. I’m sure he would have loved to repeat history with a first place win to really jump ahead in the standings. After race #22 of 35, Stewart nudged up to eighth place in the Chase with a 234 point lead over Clint Bowyer for the last spot.

Ryan Newman Coming In Hard

Gene Haas Tony Stewart racer Ryan Newman continues to battle, standing just outside of the Chase cutoff. He finished in 12th last weekend and nudged up to 14th place, but still sits 83 points out of contention.

The team heads to Michigan next weekend, where a top place finish could clinch a spot for either driver.
