After the past race at Michigan, there are only three competitions left until the Chase field is set. Here’s how the drivers of Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing are doing down the stretch.

Tony Stewart – Fast Riser

Smoke was able to turn his 6th place finish at Michigan International Speedway into a leapfrog up four positions to land in 4th place overall. He hasn’t clinched a berth in the Chase yet, but he holds a comfortable 300 point cushion between himself and 13th place.

Ryan Newman Looking In From The Outside

The driver of the #39 car for Gene Haas Tony Stewart Racing finished in 23rd at Michigan due to controversial contact with Joey Logano and has really put himself in a tough spot. Newman is 103 points out of the top 12.

These next three races will prove pivotal to help push Newman into the Chase and help Smoke clinch a berth.
